THURSDAY IN THE FIRST WEEK OF ADVENT

1/12/16

First reading: Isaiah 26:1-6

Psalm: Psalm 117:1,8-9,19-21,25-27

Gospel  reading:

Matthew 7:21,24-27
TOPIC: HOLINESS COMES FROM DOING THE WILL OF GOD.
Several places in His teaching, Jesus stresses that what brings life, healing, prosperity and salvation is not hearing the word of God, or knowing or teaching the word.  It is doing or acting on the word.  Why?  Because it is not what you know that transforms you.  It is what you do daily.  Salvation comes from conversion which happens every day.  The will of the Father must be obeyed not just every Sunday, or once a month but daily.  This is what opens the door of the Kingdom of heaven.  (Matthew 7: 21)
Advent is a time when we examine whether or not the foundation of our life is Jesus. He entered our world and took on flesh so that He could be that rock foundation. And the path to that rock foundation is to listen, comprehend and act. Set your “house” on Him in this way and no storm will erode the foundation of your life.

GOD BLESS YOU AND HAPPY NEW MONTH
