Happy Solemnity! This is a day to celebrate! Today, we honor the glorious and miraculous Immaculate Conception of our Blessed Mother, an act of God’s most profound mercy.

Mary was preserved from original sin and prepared as a living tabernacle where the saviour of the world would incarnate. We notice a pattern in the first reading and in the Gospel :  the drama of the fall of humanity and the drama of the restoration of humanity. Eve was involved i a dialogue which ensued between her and satan. Mary was (the second Eve) was involved in a dialogue between her and the angel Gabriel. The first dialogue introduced Adam onto the drama which led to the dall of humanity whike the second dialogue introduced Jesus (the second Adam ) which led to the salvation of humanity.

Mary was subtly introduced in the first dialogue “I will put enmity between you and the woman (Mary) and between your seed and her seed: he shall bruise your head  and you shall bruise his knee”.

Just as God had planned  to save humanity by sending His only begotten son so did he plan to save us by preserving Mary from the stain of original sin.

The wonan had an aclive role in the dall of humanity so also the woman in the person of Mary had an active role in the salvation of the human race

Dearest Mother my Queen, I gaze upon the beauty and holiness of you who, though a mere creature, are perfect in every way. You have been granted this singular and gratuitous grace from God with which you perfectly cooperated. May I always rely upon your motherly love and care and may I always allow you to bestow the grace of God upon me in accord with the Father’s plan. You, dearest mother, are a gratuitous gift of Mercy to us all! Mother Mary, I love you. Pray for me. Jesus, I trust in You.
