7th Sunday Ordinary time 19/02/17

Seventh Sunday in Ordinary Time

Lv 19:1-2, 17-18
The Lord said to Moses, “Say to all the congregation of the sons of Israel, You shall be holy; for I the Lord your God am holy. “You shall not hate your brother in your heart, but you shall reason with your neighbour, lest you bear sin because of him.

God calls us to be holy, no revenge, do not respond according to the behaviour of your neighbour, rather think and act as a Christian accordingly.

Ps 103:1-2, 3-4, 8, 10, 12-13

R. (8a) The Lord is kind and merciful.

In the psalm God calls us to be merciful

1 Cor 3:16-23
Paul wrote Brethren: Do you not know that you are God’s temple and that God’s Spirit dwells in you? If anyone destroys God’s temple, God will destroy him. For God’s temple is holy, and that temple you are.

You are God’s temple so you must treat your body as such, so at all times you must be conscious of who you are A TEMPLE OF GOD. No hatred, avoid sinful thoughts be merciful, always forgive and show love.

1 Jn 2:5

R. Alleluia, alleluia.
Whoever keeps the word of Christ,
the love of God is truly perfected in him.
R. Alleluia, alleluia.

Mt 5:38-48
But I say to you, Love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you, so that you may be sons of your Father who is in heaven; ……. You, therefore, must be perfect, as your heavenly Father is perfect.”

Again Jesus is teaching us to be merciful, be ready to forgive those who hurt us, show them love that they never expect from us. Be prayerful, be conscious of who you are a son/ daughter of God. These attributes will get you closer to being perfect as our Heavenly Father is.
Be merciful
Ready to forgive even when you are hurt
Show love even to your enimies
Be prayerful
Always make use of the penitential services because we don’t know the hour.
May God bless us all. Amen
